PrestaShop gets better with the latest v1.6.1.0 release

PretaShop’s got a new and improved version, and like any other PrestaShop lover I’m excited about it. It got a new puffin mascot too at this PrestaShop day. Not only the latest release v1.6.1.0 looks pretty than its previous versions but there are a whole new bunch of other improvements too.

The major improvements made to this new version of PrestaShop are mentioned below:

  • Improvements to contrast and better visibility to the navigation structure of the back office.
  • New logos, images and design elements have been added to make the admin panel look better.
  • Targeting SQL queries improvements have been made to the overall performance of this shopping cart.
  • PSR-2 coding style has been adopted to maintain the code integrity and make the unit testing easy.
  • For better legal compliance, new features have been added to the advanced EU module so that store owners can easily meet the local EU guidelines.
  • The rounding of prices and tax management has been refined to take the load off from the shoulders of merchants.
  • Major improvements have been made to installation, update and search features too.

Developer for your project?

You might feel that no made changes have been made, but if you see it from a perspective of a certified PrestaShop freelancer like me, these enhancements are very pivotal. It will help merchants to have an online store that is better equipped for traffic peaks and can be managed easily.

A great initiative from PrestaShop that begins with this release and which I personally like a lot is the adoption of semantic versioning scheme. Now you will be able to identify all the version releases and the changes made.
